Would you be like to be part of a dynamic and innovative CAMHS team and play a key role in ensuring support for young people and their families? 

We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Support Worker with great communication skills and calm approach, to be part of CAMHS Single Point of Access (SPA) on a full time basis.  

The SPA is the initial contact for all children, young people, families and professionals wishing to contact Oxfordshire CAMHS. Our team provides consultation, promoting self help approach where appropriate, giving support, advice and expertise. When required the team will identify the appropriate CAMHS pathway to provide assessment.

The aim is to make it easier to access the most appropriate help, working closely with Children’s social care, GPs, School and Health referrers, as well as local charitable services. 

We are a supportive multidisciplinary team that holds the values of compassionate care for our young people and families, and the wellbeing of our staff. 

Main duties of the job

  • To quickly establish rapport and effectively engage young people and families on the telephone to help gather information as to the best next steps for support
  • To liaise with professionals and communicate guidance to support
  • To discuss outcomes from screening with qualified member of staff and jointly agree plans for next steps
  • To work together with other members of team, supporting with duties that may include administration tasks and audits to ensure effective service delivery

Essential criteria

  • Good standard of education GCSE leaver (equivalent) or higher

Desirable criteria

  • Training or Qualification in Counselling/psychology Qualification related to Mental health issues EG, nursing, social care NVQ

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Skills, Experience and knowledge of working with people with a diagnosed mental health disorder in a community setting

Desirable criteria

  • Experience working in a multi- disciplinary team in a health-related field.
