We are delighted to offer a one‑year secondment opportunity for a motivated Nurse with community experience to join our District Nursing Skills Training Team (formerly the Delegated Healthcare Skills Training Team).
This is a highly rewarding role within a small, friendly, and supportive team working across Oxfordshire. You will use your clinical expertise to deliver high‑quality training to patients, families, community staff, and a range of care agencies. We would value any staff with knowledge and interest in self care diabetes management as the team will be involved in a project within District Nursing service.
In this role, you will develop skills in facilitating learning, managing your own caseload, and creating engaging teaching presentations.

As the post involves travel across the county, the ability to drive and access to a vehicle for work is essential

Main duties of the job
- Deliver high‑quality training to patients, families, and care agency staff on a range of delegated healthcare skills.
- Work closely with district nursing teams, community services, and partner organisations to support safe delegation of care.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Deliver high‑quality training to patients, families, and care agency staff on a range of delegated healthcare skills.
- Work closely with district nursing teams, community services, and partner organisations to support safe delegation of care.
- Carry out competency assessments and provide supportive feedback to develop confidence and safe practice in learners.
- Offer expert clinical guidance and advice around delegated tasks, ensuring training is evidence‑based and tailored to individual needs.
- Maintain accurate training records, documentation, and competency frameworks in line with organisational policies.
- Participate in the development and review of training materials, resources, and standard operating procedures.
- Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting assistance to care agencies and families undertaking delegated healthcare tasks.
- Prioritise and manage your own workload with flexibility across Oxfordshire, ensuring timely response to training requests.
- Contribute to service development, quality improvement activities, and team meetings.
Person specification
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Some knowledge and understanding of Oxfordshire Delegated Healthcare protocol, processes and partners.
- Experience and specialist knowledge of long term conditions and or Mental Health illness, where clients have multiple complex needs requiring a high level of support within their own home, group home or specialist care home setting.
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse (Adult).
- Educated to degree level or equivalent.
- Mentor qualification / Practice Supervisor and Assessor.
- Full UK driving licence with access to own vehicle.
- Ability to travel between sites and meetings.
Desirable criteria
- Teaching qualification.
Skills
Essential criteria
- Presentation skills.
- Evidence of continued professional development.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of planning and delivering teaching programmes.
- Extensive experience within the Community Healthcare settings.
- Some experience of delivering programmes of Education.
- Evidence of working within and across teams including multidisciplinary and cross organisational working.
