This role within CAMHS aims to develop the role of Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) in the Mental Health Support Team (MHST). It represents an opportunity for clinicians who have knowledge and experience in using evidence-based low intensity interventions to develop their careers, and support the development of this new, exciting service for young people and their families.
Candidates must have either completed Post Graduate Diploma for Senior Wellbeing Practitioners (SWP) or have commitment to undertake and complete Post Graduate Diploma for Senior Wellbeing Practitioners (SWP) while in post.
This is a fixed term 1 years contact, permanent role at end of 1 years subject to completion of training.
Main duties of the job
- You will supervise, develop, and support Education Mental Health Practitioners to provide guided self-help, low intensity, brief, evidence-based CBT and to deliver groups and training.
- You will work closely with senior colleagues to screen and triage all referrals.
- The role will also involve highlighting areas of need within the new teams and helping to develop the service and create quality improvement plans supported by, and in conjunction with, senior colleagues.
- You will also hold a small caseload in agreement with their supervisor.

Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Demonstrates an understanding of anxiety and depression and how it may present in Primary Care
Desirable criteria
- Demonstrates a knowledge of the issues surrounding work and the impact it can have on mental health
- Knowledge of medication used in anxiety and depression and other common mental health problems
- Demonstrates an understanding for the need to use evidence based psychological therapies and how it relates to this post
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Post graduate certificate in evidence based psychological treatments (IAPT pathways) OR CBT training with extensive experience in primary care
Desirable criteria
- Post graduate certificate in evidence based psychological treatments (IAPT pathways) OR CBT training with extensive experience in primary care Training in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, arts therapy or within a psychological therapy.
- Psychology degree
- Received training (either formal or through experience) and carried out risk assessments within scope of practice
Experience
Essential criteria
- Evidence of working as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner in an adult IAPT setting, or of working using low intensity CBT in CAMHS
- Evidence of working with people who have experienced a mental health problem
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in Primary Care Services
- Worked in a service where agreed targets in place demonstrating clinical outcomes
- Ability to manage own caseload and time
- Evidence of working in the local community
