Bath has been a popular place to live since the Roman times, and for good reason. Live in Bath and work locally or, like many OHFT colleagues, use it as a base to commute to Swindon or Wiltshire.

Residents of Bath can’t miss the daily beautiful views of the hills and parks accompanying the famous Georgian landscape. The city is a full of stunning architecture, with plenty of opportunities to get off the beaten track and discover hidden gems and quiet corners.

Bath has a fantastic range of events, festivals and exhibitions which take place in and around the city. The food and drink scene is diverse and there are options to suit everyone.

It punches above its weight in terms of cultural offerings and hosts the Literature, Music and Comedy festivals, as well as Bath Fashion Week and the Bath Digital Festival.

Bath’s is famous for its shopping and includes a wide range of big brands, independent shops and boutiques. There are seasonal markets and plenty of little alleyways and backstreets to discover.

Bath has an excellent reputation for education with a lot of academies and highly ranking schools to choose from. It also has two universities – Bath University and Bath Spa.

North East Somerset is made up of the Somer Valley, the Chew Valley and the area of Keynsham.

The Chew Valley area is a largely rural area and has been identified as an area of outstanding natural beauty. It is located to the west of Bath and has strong links to Bristol.

Keynsham is one of the larger towns and lies between the cities of Bath and Bristol, providing strong links for both. Keynsham is a market town that has seen recent regeneration creating an interesting hub for businesses and visitors.

For cyclists and pedestrians, many parts of Buckinghamshire feature dedicated cycle paths and walking trails, particularly in the Chiltern Hills and along the canal towpaths.

Getting about in Oxford City is best done on foot, by bike or bus as car parking is difficult, a good alternative is to use one of the City’s Park and Ride facilities.

Oxford has the UK’s first integrated transport system outside of London. With an Oxford Smartzone pass you can use buses from any operator within the zone; you can buy a pass for a week, month or year at a time.

Owing to the ring road, access to different parts of the city is relatively efficient, but heavy congestion in all directions is a feature at peak periods.

Getting to London and back is very easy; there are direct fast trains regularly, and two direct coach services that serve Oxford City.

Further afield, there are some great shopping outlets that you can reach via buses and trains. These are just a few in the surrounding area that may be of interest:

South West Trains operates between London and major hubs across the south west, such as Weymouth, Exeter, Bristol, Reading and Portsmouth, calling at various destinations in Wiltshire en route. Trowbridge, Salisbury, Chippenham and Westbury all offer significant train connections.

The M4 is the only motorway that runs through Wiltshire, there are also several ‘A’ roads that go through the county, including the A303 that runs east-west.

Salisbury and many historic Wiltshire towns are home to a wealth of independent retailers and specialist shops.
